Salah agent makes cryptic Twitter post after ‘surprising’ Liverpool substitution

Mohamed Salah’s agent posted a critic message on Twitter after the Liverpool top-scorer was substituted in the 1-0 defeat against Chelsea.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp played down Salah’s reaction after he was substituted on the hour mark of the Anfield defeat which resulted in the club’s worst home league run in their history.

By the time the Premier League’s leading goalscorer was replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain the hosts were already trailing to Mason Mount’s goal late in the first half.

Salah walked off shaking his head. And while Klopp says he did not see the reaction he said he took the Egypt international off as he was concerned about his fitness.

“When the boys look disappointed it is not a problem. I didn’t see what Mo did,” said Klopp.

“The reason for the sub was that, and I could have changed other players as well that’s true, but he looked in that moment that he really felt the intensity and I didn’t want to risk him.

“That’s all. I’ve known him a long time and it’s really rare as he usually looks fresh.”

Just after the substitution though, Salah’s agent posted a cryptic response, tweeting a single full stop, which received over 10,000 interactions.

Jamie Carragher, who was on co-commentary could not understand the change from Klopp, who incidentally took the flak for the defeat.

“I’m surprised with that one, Mo Salah coming off, I really am,” he said.

Salah future

“He’s not too happy himself. Liverpool need a goal and he’s the top scorer in the Premier League.”

Salah is under contract until 2023 and Liverpool will be loathed to lose a player who has scored 118 goals in 189 games for Liverpool, including 24 this season.

However, his long-term future is unclear and the Egypt star flirted with Real Madrid in December when he refused to rule out a transfer to Spain.

Salah told AS: “I think Madrid and Barcelona are two top clubs. Who knows what will happen in the future, but right now I am focused on winning the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool again.

“That’s a tough question [how long I will stay at Liverpool], but right now I can say that everything is in the hands of the club. Of course I want to break records here. And, I repeat, all the club records, but everything is in the hands of the club.”

Then in an interview with TV2 (via Sport Witness) in January Salah put the ball in Liverpool’s court over his future.

Asked about his plans, Salah said: “I don’t know. If you ask me, I say I want to stay here as long as I can, but as I’ve said before, it’s in the club’s hands.”
