Leeds forward Rodrigo has backed his team-mates to put in another strong performance against Tottenham after notching two successive wins.
The Whites finished 2020 with back-to-back Premier League wins over Burnley and West Brom. Indeed, the latter came with a thumping 5-0 margin.
Those results have seen Leeds move back up the table after a 6-2 thrashing by Manchester United.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side now face a tough away game at Tottenham on Saturday lunchtime. However, Rodrigo hopes that Leeds can maintain their recent momentum.
The Spain international told LUTV: “We are trying to do our best this season. It’s true we’ve had different performances during the season, good and bad, but we want to maintain and keep our current level in the games.
“Two consecutive wins is important for us to grow, for our confidence and to achieve our goals.
“We want to maintain this level for the next game and try to win.”
Leeds were also in free-scoring mood when they beat Newcastle 5-2 earlier in December.
The club have generally made a positive impression on the field in their first season back in the top flight following promotion.
Their attacking instincts have particularly been praised after they took Liverpool all the way and earned a point against Manchester City.
Rodrigo hails recent Leeds mentality
Rodrigo, who scored in both the wins over Newcastle and West Brom, feels that continuing to chase goals is the right approach.
“We didn’t stop, we scored the first goal and went for more and this is the mentality we have to have in these games,” he said.
Meanwhile, Leeds boss Bielsa pointed out in his pre-match press conference that Spurs, despite their poor recent run, remain a strong test.
“With respect to Tottenham and the way they’re playing, they’re a very difficult team to face,” the Argentine said.
“In every position they have solid, good players, they have options, they have strikers who can unbalance and they’re very clear on how they want to play.
“It’s a team in which you can clearly see the influence of the manager, they’re very competitive.”
Counterpart Jose Mourinho has offered an insight into his analysis of Saturday’s opponents.
