Arsenal and Man City have been put on alert after Lyon’s sporting director conceded the risk of losing one of their star players is very real.
The Gunners and Cityzens are both expected to be active players in the summer window.
City have already snapped up Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres, though the latter wasted no time in upsetting Pep Guardiola.
Arsenal, meanwhile, look set for a major squad overhaul, including the departure of a senior striker.
One player who both clubs have converged over regarding their reported interest is Lyon midfielder Houssem Aoaur.
His 22 goals and 25 assists in 135 appearances in all competitions have caught the eye of many around Europe.

So far, Lyon have managed to hold onto the versatile 22-year-old, while Premier League champions Liverpool were linked with a move in the past.
However, the French side may have to sell this summer as they look to bring in extra funds. As with all teams, the coronavirus pandemic has hit them hard financially.
Now, Lyon sporting director Juninho Pernambucano has ramped up speculation of an exit with his latest comments.
“Houssem Aouar? When you have great players in the squad, it is quite logical that other bigger teams with greater economic power come to seek the players,” said Juninho (via The Mirror).
“There is a risk of losing important players.
“If we lose important players, I have already spoken with the president, we will have the right to balance the workforce.”
€30m Arsenal, Man Utd target sets decision deadline
Meanwhile, Manchester United and Arsenal target Gabriel Magalhaes will make a decision on his future this week, according to reports.

Due to his impressive form, there has been a great deal of speculation about his future. Several Premier League clubs have been linked with a bid for the 22-year-old.
The front-runners appear to be either Arsenal or Manchester United. The Gunners need to strengthen their defence, despite the impending return of William Saliba from his loan to Saint-Ettiene.
