Pundit Noel Whelan has compared Liverpool new boy Diogo Jota to Anfield cult hero Luis Suarez.
Jota has hit the ground running since joining Liverpool from Wolves in the summer transfer window. The Portugal international has become the first Liverpool player ever to score in each of his first four Premier League appearances at Anfield.
It had long been thought that it would be impossible to disrupt Liverpool’s front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. But Jota is asking questions of Firmino in particular, even though both got on the scoresheet in their most recent win against Leicester.
Jurgen Klopp has even deployed all four at the same time on occasion, although he has been warned that such a solution may not work in the long-term.
Either way, Jota will continue to warrant more game time if he keeps up his scoring record. And now, he has been paid one of his biggest compliments yet.

According to former Leeds United player Whelan, Jota has all the qualities that made Suarez a success at Anfield.
“Liverpool have found their new Suarez,” Whelan told soccer Insider. “That is the best compliment I can pay him, really.
“He doesn’t have Suarez’s temperament, or nasty side, but shares so many of his best attributes.
“Jota’s a huge goal threat, technically brilliant, two-footed, quick and with a low centre of gravity, scores all types of goals, he chases everything, and is a team man, too.”
Whelan not sure of Jota’s best position
So far, Jota has had to adapt to a number of different attacking positions for Liverpool. He has sometimes covered for Firmino as a centre-forward, but played on the right wing in Salah’s absence against Leicester.
The 23-year-old has made an impression in whichever position he has played in, and Whelan thinks it shows Liverpool have got their recruitment spot on once again.
“He is an amazing signing, really, an all-rounder who can play anywhere across the front line,” Whelan said.
“Where’s his best position? I don’t know, we’re still finding out, but credit to Liverpool for signing him.
“He’s a gem and has made an already brilliant attack even more dangerous.”
