Leeds United could bid £15million bid for fringe Liverpool winger Harry Wilson, who faces a bleak Anfield future, according to a report.
Wilson recently arrived back at Melwood after his loan spell with Bournemouth. The Wales international started brightly and, despite dropping off, he remained the Cherries’ second-highest Premier League scorer.
However, the chances of fitting into Jurgen Klopp’s plans look slim, with several attackers guaranteed more game time.
Previous reports indicated how Liverpool, who wanted £30million for Wilson last summer, are willing to accept less this year. Those claims suggested Leeds were eyeing a bid of around £12.5million.
According to The Sun, though, Leeds are ready to increase that bid to £15million, with Marcelo Bielsa a strong admirer.
The Whites boss reportedly wants Wilson to show he is “capable of more” and sees the 23-year-old improving his team.
Indeed, Leeds have not increased their bid significantly because they are aware Liverpool will struggle to find clubs willing to pay £30million, especially in the coronavirus-impacted transfer market.
Although, the drop in price means Aston Villa and Newcastle are also keen on a swoop. Bosses Dean Smith and Steve Bruce, respectively, eye Wilson as a solid signing.
Should Liverpool decide to sell up, the three clubs could enter a bidding war for the winger.
Wilson is one of several players Liverpool could look to offload in a bid to raise funds. Striker Divock Origi is also reportedly a target for Villa, who realise their need to add goals.
The Reds could also listen to offers for Xherdan Shaqiri, who struggled for game time this season.
LIVERPOOL TRYING TO SAVE FOR THIAGO?
Indeed, one report claimed that player sales are one saving measure proposed by Liverpool in their hunt for Thiago Alcantara.
The Bayern Munich midfielder has refused a new contract in Bavaria and wants a new European adventure.
The 29-year-old has enjoyed a trophy-laden career with the German champions.
