Leeds United are monitoring the progress of Molde midfielder Fredrik Aursnes ahead of a potential swoop, according to a report.
The Whites have already made several exciting signings as they gear up for a long-awaited Premier League return.
Helder Costa has made his move from Wolves permanent, while Jack Harrison has signed another loan deal. As for new arrivals, Leeds have brought in, among others, striker Joe Gelhardt from Wigan.
However, according to The Sun, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is monitoring Norway Under-21 international Aursnes.
The 24-year-old moved across Norway in January 2016, signing for Molde from IL Hodd. Indeed, it was then-Molde boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who brought him to the club.
Since then, he has made 148 appearances, scoring 18 goals and assisting 22 others.
What’s more, Aursnes is a regular in the Europa League for Molde, appearing in the tournament’s qualifying stages.
The newspaper says Leeds will have to outlay £5million if they want to bring him to the Premier League. The Whites should have no bother convincing him, with the player keen to test himself away from Norway.
However, Leeds could face competition with French side Toulouse also showing an interest.
In any case, Aursnes is gearing up for a move away given he only has one year left on his contract.
This year, Aursnes has played 22 times as a defensive midfielder, chipping in with two goals and two assists. He has also played in central midfield, although only on one occasion.
He made his Norway Under-21 debut in 2014 and has earned 13 further outings for his country since.
LEEDS SETTLE ON BEN WHITE ALTERNATIVE?
Meanwhile, reports claim Leeds are considering moving on from a deal to re-sign Ben White on a permanent basis.
The Brighton defender played all 46 games for Leeds on his loan deal this season and was vital in helping his side achieve promotion.
However, amid interest from elsewhere, his price has reportedly soared and Leeds are now looking elsewhere.
