Jurgen Klopp claimed nobody would have been able to stop Liverpool’s front three in their sensational win over Atalanta.
Liverpool have developed one of the strongest attacking trios around under Klopp in recent years. In Italy, though, one member of the front line was different, as Diogo Jota partnered Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah rather than Roberto Firmino.
Klopp’s decision paid off, as Jota scored a hat-trick, along with one goal each from his fellow attackers Mane and Salah as well.
It led Liverpool to a stunning 5-0 win in Bergamo, where many had expected they would be in for a tough night. Their front three blew such thoughts out of the water.
After the game, Klopp refused to take credit for any tactics, instead pushing the praise towards the individual brilliance of Jota, Mane and Salah.
He told BT Sport: “That was a performance we needed tonight. My boys played an incredible game, the front line defending and attacking was outstanding.
“Midfield organisation, desire, readiness. Top level, last line pushing up and knowing the threat Atalanta can cause.
“You win a game 5-0, you could score more goals but our goalie had to still make three world-class saves. Overall a really good game.
“It’s about the players, it was difficult against us tonight, I don’t think anyone could’ve defended against Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Diogo Jota so it wasn’t about the tactics or our system it was about the team.”

Klopp turns attention towards Man City game
Next up for Liverpool is a showdown with title rivals Manchester City, who they will face in the last league game before the international break.
City also won in Europe on Tuesday, meaning both sides go into the game with momentum behind them.
Klopp knows his players must focus on their recovery to ensure a good performance at the weekend.
He said: “90% of my players have three games in the international break, my players are still on duty. After City this weekend it’s only me who gets a week off.
“But we have to recover now and we will need it. Then we can see who is available and City are a different team so we have to make sure we’re ready for that.”
