Harry Kane made it clear his focus is on scoring the next goal after bagging his 200th for Spurs in the 3-1 Europa League victory over Ludogorets Razgrad.
The England skipper netted on 13 minutes to give the north Londoners the perfect start. Lucas Moura doubled the visitors’ advantage just after the hour mark following an assist by Kane.
Claudiu Keseru pulled one back early in the second half. Bernard Tekpetey’s shot deflected into the path of Keseru, who slotted past Joe Hart from close range.
Giovani Lo Celso made sure the points went to Jose Mourinho’s side with a simple finish after good work by Son Heung-min. The South Korean had only been on the pitch for a few seconds when he crossed for the Argentinian to score.
It was Kane’s night, however, and the prolific marksman was happy with both his and the team’s display.
“I’m delighted with the three points first and foremost,” he told the Tottenham website. “I probably could have scored a couple more to be honest but that’s the way it goes. It was a great milestone to reach but hopefully there’s a few more to come.”
Bounce back the key for Kane
Having lost 1-0 to Antwerp on matchday two, it was the perfect response from the Premier League outfit and Kane feels they are on track to make the knockout stage.
“We had to bounce back,” he added. “I don’t think it was out greatest performance tonight but we got the job done. It’s never easy coming away from home in Europe as last week showed.
“We’ve put ourselves in a nice position and we play these again at home after the international break so if we win the next couple it should be enough to get through.”
The 27-year-old admits that his career has all been a bit of a blur but is determined that the story is far from over.
“Time goes so quick. It feels like yesterday when I was scoring that first goal for Spurs, so it’s a great achievement to reach 200 goals but let’s keep them coming,” he added.
“It’s hard to take these things in when you’re playing but once you’ve finished you’re career you can take them all in.”
