Arteta goes to Edu with two reasons why Real star would be ‘perfect’ to transform Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has reportedly cited two reasons why a loan-to-buy deal for Real Madrid midfielder Isco would be ‘perfect’ for his team, in discussions with his superiors.

Arteta has shown promise in the transfer window since taking over at The Emirates. As well as revamping his defence with Gabriel Magalhaes, he has added midfield enforcer Thomas Partey.

But one addition that the Gunners did not make in the recent market was a creative midfielder. And while a bid for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar failed, more names have supposedly entered the fray.

Indeed, among them is Isco, who looks likely to leave Madrid in the coming months. The 28-year-old has suffered from a lack of game time and is reportedly fearful of his spot in Spain’s European Championships squad.

Previous reports have claimed that Arsenal have made initial forays into signing him by making an enquiry. Defensa Central now claims to reveal Arteta’s thinking over a swoop.

The Spanish boss believes Isco would ‘fit like a glove’ in his Arsenal team.

What’s more, he is using Dani Ceballos’ success in his time with the Gunners as a ‘reference’.

Isco TEAMtalk

Ceballos is enjoying a second loan spell from Los Blancos and has played a key role in Arteta’s plans.

Arteta has reportedly gone to his superiors – technical director Edu among them – and expressed his belief in a player who could be revitalised by moving to a new league.

Indeed, Isco’s agent recently confirmed that their client wants to try a totally new experience away from Spain.

Madrid, Arsenal set to clash

But while the intent from Arsenal is promising for the time being, the Gunners could face a struggle to sanction a January deal.

Indeed, Defensa Central adds that Madrid are currently unwilling to negotiate in the winter window. Los Blancos chiefs want to wait until next summer, when they can find a replacement.

Either way, Arsenal have yet to send their first formal offer for the former Malaga player. In the event of a firm offer, though, they would reportedly be the favourites for Isco’s signature.
